Angsan in the autumn

After I had finished class yesterday I decided to walk up Angsan, a mountain located just behind Yonsei Campus. WOW! That was a great idea. It took me forever but it was stunningly beautiful with the autumn leaves covering the trees and ground.

I've heard that the university that Elin and Linda are studying at is the prettiest in the city. Therefore I decided to go there today on my day off. The rumous were true!

A student's life

Today is the end of week two of the term here at Yonsei. I'm learning more Korean for each day and keep busy with my other subjects. In total I'm taking 5 courses: Business and Society, Korean, Introduction to Korean Studies, Cultural Anthropology and Fiction Workshop. I'm also taking a online course from a Swedish university that's an introductionary course to Gender Studies. It's a bunch to read but so far so good. I'm not used to take 5 courses at the same time, since that's not how it is in Sweden. I'm not looking forward to sitting examt in all subjets in the midterms though... But since I love to study I'm sure that I'll survive that too.

Other than being in school not much exciting things have happened. Yesterday and today we both felt a bit under the weather and binged on ginger, lemon and honey tea. So good! We also booked a trip to Busan during the Chuseok holiday (27th-29th of September). It will be fun to see another city here in Korea! Our friend Linda will be there too, since she arrives on the 20th! OH and by the way! We've decided to move into a bigger apartment in the same house that date, since living three in this small space would be hard. Our host Jay is super nice and we're getting all new furnitures.

Fall semester has begun!

Classes have started! Today I went to my first classes at Yonsei University. The first was a basic Korean course that I think will be helpful to understand this language! Thought it's veeeery basic. The teacher seems nice. All the students in the class were exchange students and I tagged along with a Finnish, Dutch and American student for lunch afterwards. It might also have been the cheapest lunch I've ever had... like 12 SEK for ramen. After lunch I went to the next class "Introduction to Korean studies", but no professor showed up. I decided to go home but when I got off campus I got a message saying that the teacher had arrived. He had accidently mixed up the times so that why he was late. That class will be super interested but with a lot of heavy reading. We are going to read a lot of works by Korean authors and other historical texts about how, when and why Korean has become Korea. Very interesting!

A new friend

We have made another Korean friend! His name is Jason and he studies at Yonsei. We met up with him today and had a great time discussing cultural differences among other things. :)

Yonsei University - Orientation Day!

Today was my first day in school. We only had orientation and were introduced to Yonsei and some of the staff. Today was a rainy day as well so I got to experience the less boiling side of Seoul. I love see through umbrellas!

I didn't bring my big camera out with me today, so I'll just upload a few ones I took with my phone.

Seven more hours to go

In seven hours and ten minutes I'm on my way to Seoul, South Korea. I'm trying to pack the last couple of things while watching New Girl so I don't completly freak out. Though I'm quite the experienced traveler, I still get nervous pre flight. Waaaah.

But what about my mobile data?!

As all of you know, mobile data and wifi might be one of lifes necessities in 2015. I have been searching for a cheap and good option to be able to instagram and snapchat as much as I like while overseas. I stumbled upon EG sim card by accident and it turns out that they have a pretty good deal. They also have affordable prices if I want to call my mum (who has no idea what a smartphone is and still pays all her bills by post).

I've now ordered a sim from EG that I will pick up when I arrive at Incheon Airport (ICN). The funny thing is that I will pay less than I do at home for my phone and recieve the same amount of data. When I go back home to Sweden I am definitely looking into my options to change provider for my swedish phone!

Seoul

Det har gått två år sedan jag senast uppdaterade den här bloggen. Det är mycket som hänt sedan dess och jag tänker inte gå in närmare på det utan fokusera på framtiden. Det är nämligen så att jag genom mitt universitet blivit utvald att studera utomlands i höst! Jag kommer läsa HT15 vid Yonsei Universitet i Seoul, Sydkorea! Denna blogg har i ära för det bytt form och kommer även hädanefter skrivas främst på engelska.Så låt oss börja med det redan nu.
